Hello my friends and welcome to another week of Monique’s Celeb Top 5! Hope you have all had a lovely week and have lots of fun activities planned for the weekend. Unusually, it has been a relatively quiet week in Hollywood, stuff has happened, but not a whole lot of it was mind shattering. But I do have some goodies for you, so never fear. To kick us off, let me introduce you to the coolest actor in Tinseltown…
1. Tom Hanks is awesome
Tom Hanks is that much of a big deal, that if he was rude to fans who approached him, I wouldn’t be surprised. For me, he could get away with it without being a bit of a d*ckhead because he is just so famous. So to read and see that the Oscar winning actor hung out with a fan and took some hilarious fan photos makes me think that Tom Hanks is awesome.
Some lucky guy in a North Dakota restaurant decided that instead of simply asking for an autograph, he asked for not one, but multiple pictures with Tom where he would steal his glasses and act intoxicated, slumping against the actor while he would point and laugh. The result has made the rounds online and is absolutely hilarious. What a champion! Other awesome actors include Bill Murray who is known for crashing parties and whispering to guests “no one will ever believe you”.
2. Oprah is the highest paid celebrity… again
Despite The Oprah Winfrey Show no longer being on the air, the queen of the talk show, Oprah Winfrey herself has once again found herself at the top of Forbes highest paid celebrity list. Her television network, OWN, has been struggling of late but her ownership (cough domination cough) of syndicated shows such as Dr Phil, Rachael Ray, The Dr Oz Show and various other media ventures saw Oprah earn an amazing $US165 million from May 2011 to May 2012 according to Forbes.com.
Also in the top ten were two directors and five producers showing that being behind the camera may be the best way to earn the big bucks. Oprah was the only woman in the top ten where she was joined (in order) by Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, Dr Dre, Tyler Perry, Howard Stern, James Patterson, George Lucas and Simon Cowell.
3. Three new mummas
Three relatively famous celebrities had babies this past week. One made me do a happy dance, I thought one was a little bit cute and the other, I’m still in shock that she is now responsible for another human being. When I read the story that Giuliana and Bill Rancic welcomed their baby boy via a surrogate, I was so happy for them I nearly cried. Little Edward Duke Rancic entered the world on Wednesday night weighing 7 pounds 4 ounces. Bill got to cut the umbilical cord and G was the first to hold him.
Anna Faris and Chris Pratt also became first time parents to Jack on the weekend. The little man arrived earlier than expected so is spending some time in the NICU but both Mum and baby are doing well, with Anna already pictured and looking great. The other boy to enter the world this week will soon grow accustomed to fake take and hair product, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi gave birth to Lorenzo Dominic LaValle who weighed a tiny 6 pounds 5 ounces. Snooki and baby daddy Jionni LaValle are over the moon with their little one and we’ve already seen a sneak peak (on your right). Yay for babies!
4. Kris Humphries’ parents divorce quicker than him and Kim
No one likes to admit their parents are better at things than they are, but when it comes to divorcing, it seems that Kris Humphries’ parents are much better at it than he is. The former Mr Kim Kardashian’s parents decided to part ways after 30 years together and know how to get things done quickly. Debra Humphries filed for divorce from William Humphries in Minnesota citing “irretrievable breakdown” as the cause of the split. The parentals were that organised that everything was settled before the papers were even filed. According to their agreement, no spousal support will be paid. A 30 year marriage was obviously quicker to dissolve than a 72 day one. Maybe Kris should have asked Mum and Dad for some advice.
5. Russell Brand spices things up
According to The Sun: “The comic fell for Ginger Spice at Olympics closing ceremony rehearsals. Smitten Russell and Geri are sharing a “very serious” romance, close pals have revealed. The couple have since enjoyed a string of dates, including a tour of Hampton Court Palace with Geri’s six-year-old daughter Bluebell Madonna over the weekend.” No word from any reps as to whether this news is true, but I can’t make up my mind what I think about it; part of me thinks it’s absolutely fantastic while on the flip side, it all just seems kind of wrong. Rusty was pictured with the Spice Girls in the celebrations following the Olympic Closing Ceremony, and has been seen leaving Ginger’s house! To steal from E! News, it seems that 2 have become 1!
Just for fun…
For those of you who haven’t seen this, you have to check out this awesome video that the guys from Flight of the Conchords did where they interviewed children to find out what to say to sick children and then turned it into a song with prominent New Zealand performers, it’s classic.
