Australia: The Lucky Country

May 1, 2013 in Current Affairs, Health, News, Politics, Self

The past week or so my wisdom teeth have started growing again. I say again because mine tend to grow for a few days and then stop for months. I mean, growing is a tiring business for your poor teeth isn’t it? The problem is that this time, the wisdom tooth on my bottom right-hand side is being a bit of a tool. It’s hurting and aching and I want to pull it out stat. I decided that after not attending the dentist for a few years (in my defense, I had been to the dentist every fortnight over a [...]

In Defence Of Kim Kardashian

April 17, 2013 in Body Image, Celebrity, Entertainment, Pregnancy & Birth

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged about entertainment and celebrities and I know you’re all probably wondering what gives. I’ve decided to step back from the gossip cycle as it is vicious and really, these people, while famous, are just people. But I could not stand back and say nothing about this. I have kept my mouth shut for a while but I can’t anymore. What has brought me out of my celebrity silence? I want people to leave Kim Kardashian alone. Given that she’s made a name for herself by having a reality television show which offers a window into [...]

Don’t Read Posts On Weddings (Except This One)

March 25, 2013 in Marriage, People, Relationships, Self, Wedding

As you all know, I got engaged recently. Even though many people expect me to be like Monica from “Friends” with a massive binder filled with every wedding idea I have ever had, I’m not. Surprised? You aren’t alone. I am enjoying filling the amazing wedding binder I bought from kikki k and the “wedding notes” book my lovely sister gave me. You see, while I haven’t planned everything already in my head, I have waited my whole life to plan a wedding. This may be less impressive to some given the fact that I am only 22, but I [...]

This Week: Monique Gets Engaged

March 9, 2013 in Self, Stories

This week has been a bit of a blur for me. Why? Because I GOT ENGAGED LAST SATURDAY! Yes, that required CAPS. I need to convey to you just how excited I really am about this. You can check out my week in pics, mostly revolving around wedding things (my bad). Photos from top left then clockwise: The scene of the proposal, me and my fiancé (how exciting is that!!), a happy engagement gift from a good friend of mine, the gorgeous ring, the florist on my desk (flowers from the proposal and from one of my best friends) and [...]

I Want Universal Sizing

February 28, 2013 in Body Image, Fashion, Health, Self, Style

I think most of you will know by now that I have a slight (or massive) online shopping addiction. It’s true, I love a good online shop. Because I work full time, I like to spend most weekends doing absolutely nothing, just relaxing, not braving the shops when every man and their dog/cat/child is there. It isn’t my idea of relaxing. There is where online shopping comes in. I can do it on my lunch break, I can do it while watching TV late at night on my phone or my iPad. And the best part? It gets delivered to [...]

Style: Monique’s Oscar’s Fashion Picks

February 25, 2013 in Celebrity, Entertainment, Fashion, Film & TV, Music, Style

It’s Hollywood’s night of nights. The one we’ve all (ok, maybe just me) been waiting for. The 85th Annual Academy Awards was held at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and was hosted by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. But who cares about that, we’re all in it for the fashion right? I’m kidding of course, it’s the biggest awards show of the season and it’s definitely all about who takes home the golden statue. But while we’re waiting for all the winners to be announced, lets have a look at the fashion. Again, there were SO many looks that I loved but I can’t [...]

Chick Flicks Are Predictable – So What?

February 22, 2013 in Entertainment, Film & TV, People, Self

Last weekend, DG and I had a date night which involved dinner and a movie. Classic combination, right? We ended up seeing Safe Haven, the new Nicholas Sparks movie. For the people who know me, this will come as no surprise because I love Nicholas Sparks. He’s my favourite author (alongside JK Rowling and John Green) and I own every single one of his books and the DVDs of the movie adaptations (including two copies of The Notebook, one is a special edition and I HAD to have it). Why do I like him so much? Because his stories are “safe”. I generally [...]

We Take Valentine’s Day Too Seriously

February 14, 2013 in Dating, Marriage, People, Relationships, Self

It’s Valentine’s Day today. But I’m pretty sure you already knew that. It would be pretty hard to forget, with all the posts on Facebook, tweets on Twitter and signs and specials all over the shops. Valentine’s Day seems to have people divided. It’s the couples vs the singles. The couples say it’s a beautiful day, an expression of love. The singles say it’s a Hallmark holiday and that it’s rubbish (generally speaking). I fall somewhere in the middle. I think the idea of Valentine’s Day is lovely, it’s a nice day for people who are crushing on someone to [...]

Bullying The Bully

February 7, 2013 in Body Image, Lifestyle, People, Politics, Self

Here at KiKi & Tea (and personally), we are against bullying. We don’t condone it and we discourage people from engaging in bullying activities. You’ll have noticed that in the celebrity posts I’ve done in the past, I talk about what is happening but try to be really careful (and I may have failed) to make sure I’m not saying anything really hurtful or anything that could be classed as bullying. Why? Because celebrities are people as well and people with feelings. I hate bullying and I’m sick of it. I’m not just talking about the schoolyard bully (but boy [...]

Style: Monique’s SAG Awards Fashion Picks

January 29, 2013 in Celebrity, Entertainment, Fashion, Film & TV, Style

Another awards show, another winning red carpet. One of the things I find the most interesting about these events is how my opinion of someones fashion sense can change so quickly. Some of the girls who were on my “didn’t love” lists were now on the “loved” side of things. The 19th Annual SAG Awards brought out some amazing looks, with black and navy the main colours of the night (though not many make an appearance on this list). There were so many looks that I LOVED, so I didn’t bother with the honourable/dishonourable mentions this time. Click here for [...]
