This Week: Mario Kart

nintendo 64 n64 playing mario kart

This week has been a weird one, so I’ll just launch straight into it.

Best: I’m having two weeks off work! I’m so excited. It seems completely surreal, to be honest, and like I’m playing hooky (that doesn’t look like it’s spelt right, but let’s go with it).

Worst: A colleague of mine passed away. It’s been a real shock.

This week’s pic: Remember Nintendo 64? I loved my N64 and while my brother was up on the weekend I thought it’d be fun to get it out and play. I still love Mario Kart, but it was less fun with two of us than it had been with all our friends around when we were younger. And we played that thing long after it was normal to do so.

Around the web:

I found this piece on being asexual in a hypersexualised culture really interesting, particularly as a couple of friends of mine identify as asexual and it was interesting to hear a different perspective. I thought it was abhorrent that people became obsessed with her sex life – imagine having that happen to you?

Mrs Woog’s piece about farting outside the chemist and making a new friend in the midst of it made me laugh a lot and reminded me of the time I farted on the Viking at Church when I was interested in him. Luckily he thought it was hilarious and endearing, and yet he didn’t realise it was an accident until I told him years later (after he’d told the story to every man and his dog).

The Oatmeal made me laugh with their comic on the state of the music industry and where it should be headed.

On KiKi & Tea:

We kicked off the week with Monique feeling grateful for Australia’s public health care, our Tuesday Tip was how to use the If rule in Excel and if you ever use excel, you should be using all sorts of rules to maximise its efficiency, I’ve got a few more to share with you. We had a short fiction piece from Jessica examining the ways different people approach being stuck in traffic and a story from Clare on the sex of her baby not being quite what she expected.

How was your week? Best and worst? Anything you’ve read this week you’d like to share?

I’m on leave next week too… just 10 days for me though…

It’s The Rhonnifer’s birthday next week – I always take a week off around her birthday so we can spend the week doing stuff together… The Rhonnifer is weird that way – she actually likes spending time with me! 😉

So, lots of walks and cafes and eating and stuff!

    Have a great holiday T :)

You too! It’s kind of delicious, isn’t it?
