Spring Racing Fashion: Oaks Day

We’re talking spring racing fashion once again! We previously featured the black and white theme of Derby Day, now it’s time to shift style gears from monochrome and modern to floaty and feminine. Traditionally known as ‘ladies day’, the third day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival is Oaks Day. For women, this is the perfect chance to show off their own signature style. Secret Single Behaviour: What’s Yours?

Most women who watched the cult hit women’s show Sex And The City will remember the episode where the 4 women identify their secret single behaviour, aka the types of things they get up to when home alone and they’d never do in front of their significant other.  Remember how Miranda covers her hands and feet in Vaseline to soften them,  puts socks on and watches infomercials?  It’s a term I have used ever since watching that episode, and whenever I hear the term “secret single behaviour”, my excitement levels rise slightly because it’s one of my favourite things to do. Is 32 The New 50?

I’m 32.  Recently I went to a hairdresser who is not my regular hairdresser. She commented on my hair, asking if my boss minded its colour, and when I said it had never been an issue, she suggested it should be and perhaps I could ‘tone it down’ to something more ‘age appropriate’. Those who know me will be aware that my wardrobe is filled with mostly black staple pieces that I will add a coloured accessory to- be it a scarf, jewellery, nails or even my hair. That’s me. Ten Steps to the Perfect Manicure

In high school I used to absolutely love painting my nails. I would paint them in a base colour and then paint designs over the top. They were always complicated and not very often entirely neat as I used only the brushes which came with the nail polish to do it, but by the end I had gotten pretty good at it (even if I do say so myself).
