I’m Here, I’m Genderqueer

What is the difference between sex and gender? Sex = male and female Gender = masculine and feminine So in essence: Sex refers to biological differences; chromosomes, hormonal profiles, internal and external sex organs. The Power of Blogging About Illness

I’ve been telling my story on my various blogs on and off for 12 years. It’s been seven years since I revealed my face on MySpace – since I’ve told my true story about Ichthyosis. With Fashion Week in full swing, there is a lot of focus in the media on body shapes, weight, and ultimately the impact this has on body image and eating disorders. Why Are There No Boys Named Sue?

In the last few years it’s become acceptable and even cool to give kids gender neutral names. That’s hardly news. However with this trend, I’m seeing a lot of girls with traditionally ‘male’ names, and very few boys with traditionally ‘female’ names. Real Beauty and My Ideal World

Last week a Dove ad went viral and while Mandi has given her opinion, I wished to give mine. It features a forensic artist drawing a number of “real women” without seeing them – he draws by the women’s description. Real Beauty Sketches by Dove: My Take

This week, Dove released a video called Real Beauty Sketches. I had been holding off watching this, purely because of the people’s reaction to this video. There were those who thought, while the message was lovely, “ERMAGHERD Dove is owned by the same company that make Lynx body spray! Young, Famous, Rich…and Happy?

As a little girl I wanted to be famous. I wanted to be a singer, a rock star. I’d have loads of cash, I’d help out those I loved, it would be glamorous and life would be easy.
