Hello my wonderful readers and welcome to another highlights edition of my celebrity news for the week. Funnily enough, it’s been a bit of a slow week in Hollywood this week and I’m guessing it’s because all the celebs are just paying attention to the Olympics, but my Celeb Top 5 stops for nothing and no one. Surprisingly this week, I don’t  have any movie news for you, but I do have couple and baby news which I know you all love. Now, on to the artist who has decided to change things up a little…

1. Snoop Dogg is no more..

You haven’t really made it in music unless you change your name and it seems like Snopp Dogg wants to move up. Except it’s not Snoop Dogg anymore, it’s Snoop Lion. And yes, like yourselves, I’m still scratching my head and it’s not because I have nits. The name change came at an appropriate time, after Snoop just released his new single “What’s My Name” because, apparently, it’s now Snoop Lion. After undergoing an artistic ‘rebirth’ in Jamaica, Snoop decided ”I didn’t want to be Snoop Dogg on a reggae track. I wanted to bury Snoop Dogg and become Snoop Lion, but I didn’t know that until I went to the temple and received the name Snoop Lion from the Nyabinghi priest,” Snoop announced at a press conference. ”From that moment on, I started to understand why I was there and was able to create something magical in this [Reincarnated] project, something I haven’t done before in my career.”  I don’t think this will last as the Artist Formerly Known As Prince is still Prince. He also thinks he’s Bob Marley reincarnated. Whatever you reckon, Snoop.

2. Olivia Munn has rare anxiety disorder

Everyone is a tiny bit weird from time to time, heck, I’m a massive weirdo, and sometimes it’s comforting to know that people in Hollywood aren’t immune to this. Star of Magic Mike, Olivia Munn, (who knew there were girls in that movie) has admitted that she suffers from trichotillomania, an impulse control disorder that causes her to pull out her eyelashes. ”I don’t bite my nails, but I rip out my eyelashes,” Olivia said in an interview ”It doesn’t hurt, but it’s really annoying. Every time I run out of the house, I have to stop and pick up a whole set of fake eyelashes.” Along with this disorder, Munn also suffers from some pretty serious anxiety, ”as an Air Force kid, I moved around a lot when I was younger and no one was nice to the new kid. So there is always this feeling that someone will make fun of me.” I don’t know about you, but it makes me like her just a little bit more.

3. Taylor Swift dating a Kennedy

Could this girl be any more perfect? After recently being linked to Patrick Schwarzenegger, it turns out country music sweetheart Taylor Swift has set her eyes on another Kennedy (Patrick’s mother, Maria Shriver, was born a Kennedy). 22-year-old Miss Swift is dating 18-year-old Conor Kennedy, son of Robert Kennedy Jr and grandson of the late Bobby Kennedy. Taylor has been spending time with the young Kennedy sailing in Massachusetts. The pair have been photographed with their arms around each other and they apparently kissed behind a boat shed (how very junior high of them). The Kennedy’s are happy with Taylor’s interest in Conor, with his grandmother, Ethel Kennedy saying ”We should be so lucky!” when asked about the possibility of Taylor one day becoming a Kennedy. I think they are a little bit cute and as Melissa pointed out on Twitter yesterday, oddly appropriate.

4. News flash: Dane Cook = not funny

I’ve never understood how people can find Dane Cook funny. Obviously his humour must appeal to some, otherwise he wouldn’t still be around, but I just don’t get it. And this week my already fairly average opinion of him plummeted when he made a terrible joke in his stand up routine at the expense of the victims of the recent Aurora shooting. He said, in part, ”I know that if none of that would have happened,  pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was  a piece of crap, was probably like ‘Ugh, f–king shoot me.’” He apologised for the remarks saying that the shooting was ‘devastating’ and that he made a bad judgment call. Fellow comedian Russell Brand came to his defense, saying it’s a comedian’s job to comment on society and that Cook wouldn’t have meant it in a malicious way. Do you think the joke was insensitive?

5. For the love of babies

“Maybe Keeva isn’t a cat person?”

There’s always so much happening in the celebrity baby/children world that I’m going to be super awesome and sum it all up for you right here. First things first, how adorable is Alyson Hannigan’s youngest daughter Keeva? The How I Met Your Mother star tweeted a picture of her little girl next to a cat saying “Maybe Keeva isn’t a cat person?” So cute. Victoria’s Secret model Marisa Miller has confirmed her and hubby Griffin Guess are expecting a baby boy in December, so there won’t be another Victoria’s Secret angel. Apparently, four children isn’t exactly enough with Victoria Beckham saying that she’d “never say never” to having baby number five. In other Beckham news, how gorgeous is little Harper! (click link for pics) And in some follow up news from previous weeks, Katherine Jackson has been reinstated as the guardian of Michael’s children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, and she’ll be sharing that with TJ Jackson, who had temporary custody.

Just for fun…

I was going to get into the Olympic spirit and use the James Bond/Queen bit from the opening ceremony as my video for the week. Unfortunately, I’ve spent hours (OK, a few minutes) trawling YouTube to find a clip but the silly IOC has copyrighted the material. So I found you something hilarious. In my search for the clip, I have been able to find still images from the 007/Queen part and instead of showing you moving pictures, there are words explaining what is happening on the screen. It’s a tiny bit hilarious. Or alternately, you can check out the video Sofia Vergara’s son made of their holiday and her proposal here.
