Sandra (Sandy)
- She is in her mid-30s.
- She is of Aboriginal descent.
- She is a waitress at The Last Slice cafe.
- She has been friends with Cat since kindergarten.
- She is married with kids.
Catherine (Cathy)
- She is in her early-20s.
- She is three quarters Chinese. Her Grandfather was Spanish.
- She looks “classically” Chinese.
- She is a waitress at The Last Slice cafe.
- Her family have lived in Newtown since the 1870s.
David (Barista Dave)
- He is in his early 20s.
- He is a classic “bronzed-Aussie”. Tall, blonde and muscular.
- He is from “The Shire”.
- He is the Barista at The Last Slice cafe

Miss Adelaide
- She was born in the 1930s in Shanghai to white-Australian parents.
- She is a “little old lady”.
- Her father was a wool-trader, and her parents lived in Shanghai when she was young.
Henry
- Henry is in his mid fifties
- He is “a bear of a man”.
- He is an award winning writer, and a favourite of critics.
Hiroki (Harry)
- Hiroki is Japanese
- He is in his early 30s
- He is a freelance photographer
- He came to Australia in 2000 to photograph the Olympics. He never left.
- His is obsessed with Cathy and secretly photographs her.
