The Last Slice: Character Glossary

The Last Slice is set in the fictitious The Last Slice Cafe. These character glossaries contain spoilers, so if that’s a problem, stop reading now and go back to The Beginning.

THE STAFF

Thomas (Thom)

  • He is in his mid-40s.
  • He is tall with short grey hair and round glasses that give him a look of permanent surprise.
  • He co-owns the The Last Slice Cafe with his wife, Cat.

Catarina (Cat)

  • She is in her mid-30s.
  • She is small and bird-like, and very serious…but she is also strikingly beautiful with classic Mediterranean features.
  • She is the Chef at The Last Slice, which she co-owns with her husband Thomas.
  • She hates 50 Shades of Grey.
  • She has been friends with Sandy since kindergarten.

Sandra (Sandy)

  • She is in her mid-30s.
  • She is of Aboriginal descent.
  • She is a waitress at The Last Slice cafe.
  • She has been friends with Cat since kindergarten.
  • She is married with kids.

Catherine (Cathy)

  • She is in her early-20s.
  • She is three quarters Chinese. Her Grandfather was Spanish.
  • She looks “classically” Chinese.
  • She is a waitress at The Last Slice cafe.
  • Her family have lived in Newtown since the 1870s.

David (Barista Dave)

  • He is in his early 20s.
  • He is a classic “bronzed-Aussie”. Tall, blonde and muscular.
  • He is from “The Shire”.
  • He is the Barista at The Last Slice cafe

 

THE CUSTOMERS

Miss Adelaide

  • She was born in the 1930s in Shanghai to white-Australian parents.
  • She is a “little old lady”.
  • Her father was a wool-trader, and her parents lived in Shanghai when she was young.

Henry

  • Henry is in his mid fifties
  • He is “a bear of a man”.
  • He is an award winning writer, and a favourite of critics.

Hiroki (Harry)

  • Hiroki is Japanese
  • He is in his early 30s
  • He is a freelance photographer
  • He came to Australia in 2000 to photograph the Olympics. He never left.
  • His is obsessed with Cathy and secretly photographs her.
