Today is World Food Day, a day celebrated internationally to celebrate the the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945.
You may not realise this, but I’m a World Vision ambassador. Although if you’re observant, you’ve probably seen the button over there on your right. I’ve been supporting World Vision for a while now, and an ambassador for just over a year.
It started with the 40 Hour Famine back when I was a teenager. I couldn’t give up food (too thin) and giving up technology seems to blasé, so I decided to give up creature comforts. I wore my pyjamas for 40 hours and didn’t wash, wear make up, or use any creature comforts. I even attended church with a sign on my back “I’m giving up my dignity for 40 hours for World Vision. What are you giving?”
This year I wanted to promote World Food Day for one special reason – for every dollar you donate, the World Food Program will match it at a rate of 9 to 1. That’s $9 for every $1. Suddenly your $2 donation doesn’t seem so paltry, does it?
World Vision needs your help. And here’s why:
Give and give generously. It could save a life.
