Tuesday Tips: No One is Better Than You

Today's Tip: No one is better than you. You are better than no one.

I'd love to say I came up with this tip, but it didn't, I read this post by Kelly Exeter about feeling superior and feeling inferior. And it resonated.

No one is better than you and you are better than no one.

It's amazing the connections you can achieve when you stop considering yourself superior or inferior to others. When you start giving every person an equal amount of time.

I hope I do this, but I know not well enough, and it's not yet something I truly believe yet.

But I'm hoping that by reading over Kelly's words again and reminding myself once again, I can let it sink in a little further.

No one is better than me and I am better than no one.

Do you ever feel inferior? Superior? Do you believe we're all equal?

I simply can’t entertain the notion that people are equal. Some people a taller, stronger, smarter and exceptional talented to boot, whilst some people are not.

I believe entertaining the notion that inferior abilities and traits are equal somehow to superior ones only adds to the cultural narcissism that is endemic nowadays.

I think people should strive to be better and humility is important for those that are, but this human beings need to know that some people have to work harder, sacrifice more than others to reach the same goals, otherwise they may well, or more likely; will come to false conclusions.

Interesting! I can certainly see things from that perspective and hadn’t really considered that prior to writing this, to be honest. I think, however, this comes back to something I’ve said often – equality does not mean the same, it means of equal value. Because someone is taller, stronger or smarter, doesn’t mean they are worth more than someone else. And that’s where I come at saying no one is better than you. They may be better than you at certain things, but they’re not worth more than you are. Does that make sense?

For me, it comes down to this… No judgment, no comparison. Meaning we shouldn’t judge others and we shouldn’t compare ourselves to others. It’s so much easier said than done, but something I really believe.

Spot on! Always easier said than done, but something to strive for.
