This Week: A Toilet Incident

Welcome back to our weekly wrap-up. It’s been a long time since I last wrote one of these and I found that the biggest roadblock in keeping writing them was collating the week’s photos, and trying to make them a little more interesting than “here is some food, and my cat” because, let’s face it, that does actually take up a large portion of my life. That and staring at a computer screen. So I decided to change the format a little, and I hope you like the new one.

I’ll start with my best and worst of the week.

Best: Today I have no meetings, the first day of the working week, so I’ve pulled my slippers on at my desk and intend to power through the piling list of to-dos that have been looming over me.

Worst: This is a tie between falling over running across the road (I was about to miss the pedestrian crossing and needed to catch the train) and skinning my right hand and right knee worse than I ever have before in my life (seriously, it’s like a large papercut that just won’t heal, painful bastard) and dropping my iPhone in the toilet only to have to cough up $329 for a replacement.

This week’s pic (at top)

Taken last night in the apple store getting my phone replaced. The person serving me printed out the picture of the facecouch and gave it to me.

Around the web:

Around the web this week I saw a few awesome things, including this bunker for surviving the apocalypse that my brother informed me we need to buy immediately. Which reminds me, now that my brother and his ute don’t live in the same state as me, our ZEP (Zombie Evacuation Plan) needs to be revised.

Other things I loved were:

On KiKi & Tea:

This week we bought back Tuesday Tips, Monique wrote about getting a bunny as a pet, and we had a guest post from Katrina Dare on shopping with children – project management style.

Our most popular post was my rant about food and sexism.

How was your week?

I’ve missed these posts – glad you’ve brought them back! :)

Best thing this week for me (apart from the glorious Sydney weather) has been reading some unpublished books from my friends in my novel writing class – it’s really exciting to read some great stories from some other aspiring writers and I’m really optimistic that some of these books will be published one day and I can say “I knew them when”… :)

Worst thing? Because I’m so busy reading (and also because I want to give my classmates my undivided attention) I’ve stopped writing at the moment. I really miss it. It’s like a dull ache. I don’t think I’m ever happier than when I’m completely buried in one of the books I’m writing. I didn’t realise how much I’d miss working on my books until I stopped. Oh well, only a few more weeks, and then I can start again…

Hope you knee gets better soon T!

I’m not sure that I get the food and sexism bit.
Being slightly larger than life (ahem….a bit hefty) I constantly cop it from women when I eat or consume any type of liquid in their presence, regardless of the nutrient value or lack thereof . It’s always you shouldn’t eat this, and you shouldn’t drink that.
Are they being sexist or just very caring ? I don’t really get why you are playing the sexism card in this instance.
