Happy Friday Everyone! Hope you’ve all had an absolutely lovely week and have an even better weekend planned, I know I do. This past week in Hollywood has been full of surprises with a couple I didn’t even know were dating (that’s right, I did not know) announcing their engagement, a comedian self-medicating a heart attack, a shocking death, a singing sweetheart breaking the cardinal rule of NOT attending weddings you weren’t invited to and the biggest shock, OK, maybe not shock, but the biggest scandal of them all: we all got to see Prince Harry in his birthday suit…
1. Prince Harry nude photos surface
I’m sure there have been many times when Prince Harry has wished he wasn’t Royal and in the spotlight and I’m guessing that this week has been one of those times. When you’re Royal, what happens in Vegas does not seem to stay in Vegas and some photos of Harry epically losing a game of strip billiards (who even knew that was a game) have surfaced online. As TMZ has so cleverly reported, the Crown Jewels were on display. For those who are in doubt that the photos are real, the Palace has confirmed that it is the third-in-line to the Throne seen holding his privates in one photos and hugging a mystery woman in another. A few people seem to be outraged by this, but I actually feel bad for Harry, he was just having some fun with friends and someone decided to ruin it by posting the pictures online. Yes, I know he should have been “more responsible” or whatever, but he’s only human. I know he has made some errors in judgment before, but give the guy a break. Luckily Clarence House has come out and asked the British media to not publish the photos and they had all obliged until Rupert Murdoch’s The Sun, published the picture of Harry on the front page despite the request. As for me, they’re already out there. So enjoy!
2. Rosie O’Donnell had a heart attack
Comedian Rosie O’Donnell suffered a heart attack this past week and has come out saying that the Internet and a commercial are to be credited for saving her life. After experiencing an ache in her chest, sore arms and what felt like muscular bruising along with feeling cold and clammy and eventually vomiting, the funny woman Googled her symptoms and decided to take a Bayer aspirin based on the advice of commercials. On her blog, Rosie talked about the importance of calling 911, “i did not call 911/50% of women having heart attacks never call 911/200,000 women die of heart attacks/every year in the US/by some miracle i was not one of them … i am lucky to be here/know the symptoms ladies/listen to the voice inside/the one we all so easily ignore/CALL 911”. But the weirdest part of this? The fact that Donald Trump, who has had a long running feud with Rosie, tweeted “@Rosie, get better fast. I’m starting to miss you!” to which Rosie replied “well thank u donald – i must admit ur post was a bit of a shock … r u trying to kill me ? xx” Glad to hear Rosie is going well.
3. Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are engaged
I pride myself on knowing everything that happens in Hollywood (and by everything, I mean whatever I read on gossip sites) so when news broke this week that Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger (the lead singer of Nickelback) were engaged, I was shocked because I had no idea they were even dating! For those thinking: isn’t Avril already married? Isn’t she still with Brody Jenner? I thought I’d clear the air: Avril was married from 2006-2009 to Deryk Whibley, lead singer of Sum 41 and was dating Brody one and off for around two years before calling it quits for good in January. Word on the street is that Chad and Avril started dating after they co-wrote a song for her new album, how adorable! The frontman proposed to Avril with a 14-carat diamond ring on 8th August and has said he feels like the luckiest person alive. It seems like a match made in Canadian music heaven. Or just seriously random. So congratulations, even if I am still stunned that this happened.
4. Tony Scott has died
Hollywood was in mourning this week at the news that director Tony Scott has died. Brother of another director Ridley Scott, and the man responsible for creating the Tom Cruise classic Top Gun, fell off the Vincent Thomas bridge in Los Angeles to his death on Sunday afternoon. Scott was only 68 years old. The police are currently investigating the death as a suicide and there were rumours that Scott was suffering from a brain tumour, but his family quickly shut down those rumours saying “it is incorrect that he has inoperable brain cancer”. According to a witness, Scott appeared nervous before jumping off the bridge, Scott “paused a couple of seconds and then began to climb the fence. He put his foot on the top of the fence and paused again. And then he threw himself off. I immediately thought, that guy is dead”. Many celebrities tweeted their condolences upon hearing the news with directors Ron Howard and Adam Shankman expressing their sadness: “@RealRonHoward: No more Tony Scott movies. Tragic day” and “@adammshankman: My heart stopped when I heard of the tragic death of 1 of r most inspiring directors, Tony Scott. Rest In Peace Tony. U will be missed so…”. My sincere sympathies to the family.
5. Taylor Swift: The Wedding Crasher
I filled you all in a few weeks ago that Taylor Swift (who is responsible for the song that has been consistently stuck in my head since I first heard it a week ago) was dating a Kennedy, more exactly, Conor Kennedy. Things really seem to be heating up between the pair, they’ve been spotted kissing at the beach, and Taylor even joined her new boyfriend and his family as they visited the grave of Conor’s late mother, Mary, who committed suicide in May and if you ask me, which you clearly have, that’s a pretty big step. But the new couple has also joined the ranks of ‘wedding crashers‘ when they showed up almost unannounced at cousin Kyle Kennedy’s wedding. The brides mother, Victoria Gifford Kennedy, reportedly asked the pair to leave but they refused to. The whole misunderstanding, if you could call it that, was Conor’s fault as he only RSVP’d ONE HOUR before the wedding was due to start and when he asked if he could bring Taylor, he was told to leave her at home and Victoria didn’t want the attention drawn away from Kyle and rightly so, but the couple showed up anyway and refused to leave when asked. Not cool Tay Tay. Her reps have denied this but the Kennedy family is insistent it happened.
Just for fun…
This has been making the rounds online this week but on the off chance that you haven’t seen it, you should check out Miranda Kerr singing in Japanese in a Lipton commercial, it’s absolutely hilarious.
