This Week: Goodbyes, Teen Mums and Cats

May 19, 2013 in Food & Recipes, Friendship, Lifestyle

It’s been a big week for me, hence this post being a day later than it normally is. It was my last day in my current job and I was sad to leave. Oddly, for most people I guess, I wasn’t as sad to leave the people as I was to leave the campus. That might sound weight but hear me out – in the Faculty I left everyone works across 2 campuses, and as I’m moving to the other one I’m likely to see everybody again. Probably quite regularly. Some people even more than I used to. But I [...]

My Top 5 Board Games

May 14, 2013 in Entertainment, Lifestyle, Technology

For many years the phrase “board games” has immediately reverted me back to childhood with memories of Monopoly-fuelled rage and overturned games of Connect 4. The inevitable realisation that everyone you know is actually a complete twat, and no one ever gives you a break when you’re not as good at games as anyone else. OK, so maybe that was just me. The point is, I hated board games. With the exception of Canasta and Guess Who, I perpetually avoided playing games of any kind as I knew myself well enough to know I was bound to take it personally when [...]

Politeness Gone Too Far

April 16, 2013 in Health, Lifestyle, Mental Health, People, Self, Society, Travel, Work

Lately I’ve noticed I seem to be suffering from a case of politeness gone too far. I seem to have a fear of inconveniencing other people. This could be considered normal manners, I suppose, but in me it’s accompanied with such a paranoia it’s taken to extreme levels. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve leapt up from a train seat to let someone past so fast I drop my bags in the process and end up taking longer to retrieve them. Or the number of times I’ve had my name called in a waiting room and I’ve [...]

This Week: Breakfast & Cleaning

March 30, 2013 in Food & Recipes, Home, Lifestyle, Meta, Pets, Self, Sexuality, Society

In the past week I’ve spent more than the recommended amount of time cleaning. The up side being my house is all spotless in time for Easter and we finally unpacked the boxes in the hallway that have been there for, oh, a while (3 years). I also cleaned all the windows which haven’t been cleaned for a long time. This was my week in pics: Breakfast for Good Friday: Porridge! Note how my one is the child size version? Hilarious.  Night at the Chapel last Friday night. Church has changed quite a bit since I was last there. Lionel [...]

12 Signs You’re Dating A Nerd

March 22, 2012 in Dating, Film & TV, Society

It was a few months into my brand new relationship when my boyfriend and his brother made a joke. It was a Sunday night, a group of friends were over (who have apparently been coming over every Sunday night since 1985) and everybody laughed. Except me. All of a sudden it dawned on me… Oh my God, I’m dating a nerd. In case you’re wondering if you are, I’ve put together this guide (with my handy dandy notebook) – 12 ways to tell if you’re dating a nerd. 1. You know the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek Not [...]

Video: Lost Voice Guy

March 2, 2012 in Comedy, People, Technology

I’d like to introduce you to Lee Ridley, known as “Lost Voice Guy”. Ridley is a stand-up comedian who has no voice. By his own description he lost it when he was very young and couldn’t find it anywhere, not even down the back of the couch. Ridley suffers Cerebral Palsy (he promises he’s not drunk no matter what you tell your children) and this is his debut stand-up comedy act using an iPad as his voice. If you enjoyed it, visit his site Lost Voice Guy for more information about his upcoming UK tour and to read his (frankly [...]
