Happy Friday everyone! As you count down to the weekend, gather round and catch up on what’s been happening in Hollywood this past week. We’ve had the fastest divorce settlement in the history of the world, babies, tragic accidents and all the movie news you want to know. As always, if you want a full run down of what’s gone on, don’t forget to head on over to “the musings of monique” and check out “the low down according to mon“. Now onto news that happened faster than Speedy Gonzales…

1. TomKat reach fastest divorce settlement ever

I was planning to leave Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes alone this week in my Celeb Top 5, but it turns out that there have been new developments happen this week that I would be crazy not to tell you, such as the fact that despite filing for divorce only two weeks ago, they have already reached a settlement, which is possibly THE fastest divorce settlement in the history of the world. In statements released by their legal teams, they shared the news. According to Katie’s lawyer: “The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life. We thank Tom’s counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.” According to Tom’s lawyer: “The Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes case has been settled with a signed agreement. Tom is really pleased we got there, and so am I.” They also released a joint statement saying: ”we are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests,” the couple told E! News this morning in a statement released through their reps. “We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.” There have been reports this week that Katie won full custody of Suri and has been having private conversations with Tom’s ex Nicole Kidman, with people speculating the details of the settlement but Katie’s lawyer shot them down saying that all reports are false and that the details are confidential and will remain so.

2. Kourtney Kardashian welcomes a baby girl

There’s been a new addition to the Kardashian clan (and I’m not talking about Kanye). Kourtney Kardashian gave birth to her and Scott Disick’s second child, a girl, on Sunday. The little girl was named Penelope Scotland Disick and has a big brother in 2-year-old Mason. Penelope was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA and weighed 7 pounds and 14 ounces. People have been wondering about what inspired the baby’s name and momager Kris Jenner was only too happy to talk to E! News. Turns out the new parents thought Penelope was a cute name and that Kris suggested the name Scotland, so no, it’s not a nod to Scott nor a hint at where baby was conceived. The other question on everyone’s mind was how on earth the Twitter obsessed family managed to keep the news to themselves, turns out they all agreed to go into communication lockdown until Kourt was safely at home. Congratulations to the new parents!

3. Is Adele further along than we thought?

Rolling In The Deep singer Adele announced only two weeks ago that she and boyfriend Simon Konecki were expecting their first child together. Everyone was excited for the singer who has famously dated the world’s biggest d-bag’s as documented on albums 19 and 21. In the announcement made on her website, there was no mention of how far along in the pregnancy Adele is, nor any indiction of when she might be due. But rumour has it that Adele is fantastic at keeping secrets and that she is actually seven months pregnant and due in September! According to a source some random, ”Adele has barely left the house in recent months, so she could keep this to herself for as long as possible.” When I think about it, this could be legit. Adele hasn’t been to any big events for months and surprisingly isn’t tailed by the paparazzi so she could very well have kept this under wraps, which means she could have been in the early stages of pregnancy at the Grammy’s in February.

4. Usher’s stepson declared brain dead

Most of the news surround Usher and his ex wife Tameka Foster recently has been involving custody arrangements, but this week has brought some very sad news. Kyle Glover, Tameka’s 11-year-old son from a previous relationship was involved in a boating accident last weekend and has unfortunately been declared brain dead after showing no signs of brain activity since being admitted to hospital. In a statement released to CNN the family haver asked for prayer, ”We know God’s in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time. We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kyle up, as it’s the best way we can all support him now.” Usher, who had a close relationship with Kyle, cancelled his appearance at the ESPY Awards to spend time with him. There has been no word on what the family are planning to do following diagnosis.

5. A whole bunch of movie news

There’s been lots happen in the movie industry this past week so I thought I’d let you know the important stuff. First off the bat, the highly anticipated Peter Jackson movie The Hobbit has completed principle filming with the Comic Con 2012 movie poster pictured left. The film is being split into two parts, with the first being released this December and The Hobbit: There And Back Again being released exactly a year later. The Hunger Games is also following suit with the announcement that the trilogy’s final film, Mockingjay, will be split into two films to be released a year apart in November 2014 and 2015 respectively. In Catching Fire news, Lionsgate released an official statement announcing that Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman will be playing Plutarch Heavensee in the sequel. Despite popular rumours, famed director Christopher Nolan has publicly said that he will not be making another Batman film, which means that he won’t be making the highly anticipated Justice League movie. It’s OK guys, you’re allowed to mourn.

Just for fun…

I love a good celebrity endorsement but what I love even more is when the siblings of famous people hightail onto their famous family member’s success, like Brad Pitt’s brother Doug.

Until next time…
